Celebrating European Day of Languages at Customs Support


This Monday, 26th September, was the European Day of Languages, which celebrates linguistic diversity across the European Union. The day also promotes plurilingualism and lifelong language learning.

Across the Customs Support network, consisting of over 70 locations in 12 countries, our people speak several languages to each other every single day. It is our team’s diverse cultures and backgrounds that allow us to learn and grow together, and we like to celebrate it.

Intercountry relationships

When we asked some of our 1500 + customs experts to comment on what they like about collaborating with their foreign colleagues, this is what they had to say:

“Since joining the Customs Support network, we’ve gone from mostly collaborating with Irish customers to working with customers across Europe. The first office that we started doing lots of work with was our central office in The Netherlands, and I was working closely with Miguel Navarro. He has a lot of experience in end-to-end collaboration across our network, and his guidance made it much easier for us to adopt and develop procedures to keep us efficient.”

“The frequent exchange with my international counterparts is a pillar of my work. As an example, a chat with our business development director for the UK, Emmet Young, has led to two very big opportunities for both of our countries as the two of us have a good relationship to a big company in each of our countries who needed support in the other one as well. I worked closely with Charlie Dawson, the business development manager in Ireland. Working together and coaching him also allows me to get clear on what we are trying to achieve with cross-selling, and he is great at developing the Irish market. The Irish office is a relatively new addition to our Group but working closely with all our offices they are already achieving great things."
